Specialty cuisine
Luxembourgish cuisine blends German heartiness with French finesse. Specialties include Judd mat Gaardebounen (smoked pork collar with broad beans), Bouneschlupp (green bean soup with potatoes and bacon), and Gromperekichelcher (crispy potato pancakes). The country is also known for its excellent white wines from the Moselle Valley.
Etiquette and Tipping
- Service is included in most restaurant and hotel bills. However, a small extra tip of 5-10% for good service is appreciated. For taxi drivers, it's common to round up the fare.
- A handshake is the standard greeting, accompanied by direct eye contact. It is customary to greet with 'Moien' (Hello) upon entering a shop or restaurant, and 'Äddi' (Goodbye) when leaving.
