Etiquette and Tipping
- Tipping is customary. In restaurants, a 10% tip is appreciated if a service charge is not already included in the bill. It is also polite to tip tour guides, drivers, and hotel staff for good service.
- A warm "As-salamu alaykum" (Peace be upon you) is a common and respected greeting. Handshakes are common, but it's best to wait for a woman to extend her hand first. Placing your right hand over your heart after a handshake is a sign of warmth and respect.
